During my summer break, I had an opportunity to volunteer for the United Nations’ Children Fund program "The Network of Volunteers". This program, supported by UNICEF,  takes place every year at the famous Exit Music Festival in Novi Sad in Serbia, at the OPENS State of Exit Zone. Exit Music festival was founded in 2000 as a student movement fighting for democracy and freedom in Serbia, it has twice won the Best Major Festival award at the European Music Awards, and it is one of the world's largest music festivals, hosting more than 200,000 people from 60 countries. I applied for the volunteering program because I wanted to experience music events and backstage management.  It was my first time at such a large music festival and on my own. My parents arranged that I can stay overnight at their friend’s apartment, because my shifts were really long and into the early mornings (like 5am), so it would be impossible to go back home in Belgrade, which is an hour and half far away by train. I was mostly at the back stage, where all the performers were gathering to prepare before their stage performances or coming after. Some of my main tasks were to escort the stage performers from the point of entrance to the stage, to stay with them through the time and make sure that they get all what they needed, offer them drinks, food and talk to them about the event and logistics. Some of them were very known stars, and this experience was very exciting for me.
